Training session 2013

Training session 2013

As education is the top priority of our mission, this year again, Artisans Angkor is glad to train new apprentices in the handicraft sector. On August 8th, we welcomed forty new trainees aged between 18 to 30 years’ old coming from the Province of Siem Reap receiving free and compensated training.

This training enables them to gain new skills for their future and even a guaranteed job if they want to stay with Artisans Angkor. Ten of them are specializing in soapstone, fifteen in woodcarving, ten in lacquering and five in silk painting.

We meet Piseth, 21 years old, who started his training with Artisans Angkor in August.  “I heard from a friend about the training and the recruitment campaign. I was so excited about the idea to have the opportunity to get trained with Artisans Angkor and my dream came true! I learn wood carving and I am glad to have a very good teacher who takes time to explain and show good technics. Compared to my previous job, also in wood carving, Artisans Angkor have a very good policy and I feel more secure here than anywhere else. I really want to work in the future with Artisans Angkor and for sure I will be able to support my family and the studies of my young brother and sister”.
