Artisans Angkor`s new Silk & Wool Collection

After spending several months on Research and Development, Artisans Angkor is proud to introduce its brand new Silk & Wool Collection, an original combination of two of the most refined natural textile fibers. The conception of two lines of products totally made from this creative blend fabric shows our willingness to keep innovating both in terms of materials and designs.

The two freshly released lines are dedicated to home decoration and men accessories. On the one hand, the home decoration line uses silk combined with a thick type of wool that gives a warm and pampering feeling to cushion covers and plaids. On the other hand, the Silk and Wool men’s line features silk combined with a thinner kind of wool that presents elegant accessories and travel sets intended for classy globetrotters.

Artisans Angkor at the UNWTO World Conference on Tourism

In February 2015, Artisans Angkor had the great honor to be chosen to decorate the main pavilion which hosted the UNWTO/UNESCO World Conference on Tourism and Culture which took place at the hotel Le Méridien d’Angkor in Siem Reap. On this occasion, over 900 participants from 100 countries, including over 45 Ministers and Vice Ministers of Tourism and Culture, came to Siem Reap to attend this conference, which was chaired by the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia himself, H.E. Mr. Hun Sen.

This was the very first time that Ministers of Tourism and Culture, as well as experts and stakeholders from both sectors, came from all over the world to discuss together new models of partnerships between tourism and culture. Besides decorating the main pavilion, Artisans Angkor also promoted authentic Cambodian handicrafts by letting artisans give a demonstration of their talents in carving, silk weaving and lacquer painting to the international visitors, and by exhibiting various craft and silk products that were made in our workshops.

Artisans Angkor`s permanent doctor and nurses

An important part of Artisans Angkor’s social advantages is dedicated to healthcare. Besides providing full time insurance that protect our employees during all moments of their life, we also offer the opportunity of free medical consultations given on our sites by the doctor hired by the company. There are two medical offices in Artisans Angkor’s sites: one is located at the Angkor Silk Farm while the other is in Siem Reap center.
The doctor and 3 nurses visit all rural workshops twice a month. Treatments that are written in our protocols are also provided for free to all Artisans Angkor’s employees. Those protocols were established thanks to our medical team’s experience and the classification of the most common illnesses in Cambodia defined by the World Health Organization.

Our partnership with Phare, The Cambodian Circus

Artisans Angkor and Phare, The Cambodian Circus share the same will to pass on traditional Khmer culture while alleviating poverty in the country. Since 1990s, Phare has been involved in the promotion of the Khmer performing arts, such as theater, music, dance, and modern circus arts, in the same way as Artisans Angkor is contributing to the preservation of the Cambodian Arts and Crafts. Phare is also committed to supporting people from the streets and struggling families just like Artisans Angkor aims to help the socio-economic integration of rural youth through training. Those similar values naturally led to a commercial partnership: Artisans Angkor has now the pleasure to have its products displayed at Phare, The Cambodian Circus’ lovely boutique in Siem Reap.

Inauguration of one of our great pieces in Battambang

Artisans Angkor is pleased to have taken part in the inauguration of the Wat Samrong Knong pagoda in Cambodia’s second largest city, Battambang in March.

It took 6 months to 12 of our artisans to totally produce by hand its central piece, a majestic 11-meter high Buddha statue in sandstone. Artisans Angkor is very thankful to Mr. Hoeu Sareth who kindly entrusted us with the production of such a significant project which allowed to bring out our craftsmen’s skills.
